White River Regional Port Authority

The White River Regional Port Authority was recently established as a collaborative project between the City of Newport and Jackson County in response to an increased interest in transportation up the White River to Newport.  The authority is developing basic infrastructure to create a loading facility in Newport on the river to increase opportunities primarily in the agriculture and mining sectors for northeast Arkansas.

Consolidated Grain & Barge Co.

CGB has been an innovative and progressive leader in the grain and transportation industries since 1969, when it began modestly in a small office in St. Louis, Missouri with three employees. Today, CGB operates an enterprise with over 1,500 employees overseeing a diverse family of businesses. The company provides an array of services for grain farmers, from buying, storing, selling and shipping of the crop, to financing and risk management. CGB continues to be one of the largest shippers of grain on the inland river system. The company's entrepreneurial approach has thrived over 50 years as CGB has expanded in many new directions. Natural extensions have included the addition of soybean processing and fertilizer products.

Moving these agricultural products from farmer to market created a huge demand for safe and efficient transportation and logistics operations through the national inland river system. The need for that infrastructure was met with the creation of CTLC (Consolidated Terminals and Logistics Co.) which was formed to provide overall logistics, transportation and bulk commodity services. In addition to servicing CGB's core businesses, CTLC's operation has expanded to include a global base of customers who need reliable transportation and logistics services. An outgrowth of CGB's extensive transportation and logistical network, CTLC services a wide range of customers far beyond the agricultural industry, providing transportation solutions using truck, rail and barge.
